The Young Planners Group (YPG) is a new committee established by the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-IL). As the next generation of planners, the YPG aims to provide members of APA-IL, that are students and young professionals, opportunities to learn more about planning and related fields through professional development programs, community and volunteering experiences, social networking events, and mentoring programs.
The APA-IL YPG is in its nascent stages of development and is reaching out to peers, young professional planners, alumni, and more experienced professionals to form the YPG Committee. YPG Committee is to be made of representatives/liaisons from all of Illinois: each ISS region and the CMS. Liaisons will meet with the CMS and ISS to share YPG's activities within their region and plan events that focus on the members’ needs and interests.
No additional dues are required. All YPG members will receive a monthly update of activities via e-mail and share ideas and concerns on planning related topics. Every year at the APA-IL State Conference, the YPG will organize a special event which will provide an opportunity to meet other YPG members.
